A Car-free London

'A Car-free London' was an ideas competition run by The Architecture Foundation during the build-up to the first mayoral elections. This winning entry proposed an array of sustainable transport routes that are clearly navigable by means of a ‘London Overground’ map. A key element of the scheme was the idea of 'Green routes'. These were created by linking existing green spaces in the city such that there would be a network of pedestrian and cycle routes radiating out from the centre of town. The links would be made with interventions such as CZWG's Green Bridge or through turning under-used streets into linear parks.
