Urban Ecology Centre

The Urban Ecology Centre was a fore-runner of The Mobius Project and proposed a restaurant inside a productive greenhouse. It also contained anaerobic digesters in the walls to produce heat from the decomposition process and a range of other technologies such as aquaponics. Exploration proposed a variety of scales for the project that could suit the needs of anything from a small village to a whole urban neighbourhood.

Exploration was invited to participate in the design of this productive garden on the roof of a supermarket in north London. We proposed ways in which the productivity could be significantly enhanced as well as designing for flexibility so that part of the roof could be rapidly transformed into a hired venue for events - providing enhanced economic resilience.
